A GIANT leap

A GIANT Leap

Did the names Kung-Fu Panda, the Freak or Pat the Bat instill fear in the hearts of the likes of superstars like Ryan Howard, Roy Halladay or Cliff Lee a year ago? I don’t think so. Did they “Fear the Beard”? Probably not. They never saw the San Francisco Giants coming. How could a team of so-called “misfits” bring to San Francisco what undeniably great individual players like Mays, McCovey and Bonds could not? They did it because they were truly a team, when Panda slumped, Burrell slugged, when Timmy Lincecum’s mechanics were off, Matt Cain stood strong. A bunch of guys with individual skill and a whole lot of heart stunned all but their fans and brought San Francisco its first World Series Championship.

The strength of a team should always be greater than the sum of its individual players. This is just as true for business, and especially in its finance department. Companies need to have the right mix of skilled individuals to succeed; hiring a great bookkeeper without adequate guidance from a qualified professional accountant can cause frustration for both the owner and the bookkeeper, no matter how good that bookkeeper is. Bookkeepers are great at the finite details of the day to day transactions, but often don’t have the big picture perspective which can only come from training and experience in senior management roles.

If you don’t have a “Kung Fu Panda, the Freak or Pat the Bat” on your financial bench, do you have the team to take you over the top? At Finance Matters we can provide the full “bench”; either part-time bookkeeping and Controller/CFO services or work with your bookkeeper to ensure your finance department is being run effectively and you are getting the results you need. .
